North Pennines
October 1978
A short cycling trip during half term holidays, October 1978, riding towards the North Pennines from home with school friend Mark Bell ("Dinger"). The plan was to stay at Edmundbyers, Alston and Acomb hostels but strong winds and rain on the second day meant the we stayed two nights in Edmundbyers instead. We rode 140 miles in 3½ days.
We didn't have a camera so the photos are from contemporary sources. Most are from Geograph, licenced under the Creative Commons cc-by-sa/2.0 licence.
