Bolivia

In August and September 1999 Emma and I toured Bolivia by bicycle and bus. After arriving in La Paz (and staying at Hostal República) we took the bus south to Oruro and set off cycling. We camped the first night near Huanuni but found the going to be more difficult and less scenic than anticipated. So the next day we took the bus back to Oruro and on to Uyuni. From Uyuni we cycled out on to the Salar de Uyuni for three days' riding, camping the second night at Isla Pescado. From Uyuni we took the bus to Potosí (staying at Hostal Libertador) then on to Sucre and then back to La Paz. We cycled out to Tiahuanaco and then on to Lake Titicaca, after which we took the bus to Sorata.
